Oilers fans call for change after game 1, want a defensemen gone
Vincent Desharnais, a rookie player, received assistance from Mattias Ekholm to regain his confidence after a difficult overtime game against the Los Angeles Kings.
Although the Edmonton Oilers have progressed to the 2nd round and are set to face the Vegas Golden Knights, it appears that Desharnais' game has yet to match his words.
As a result, many fans are urging him to be a healthy scratch in favor of Philip Broberg upon his return.
According to the tweets above, the Oilers' SV% is significantly better both 5v5 and 4v5 when Desharnais is not on the ice. While analytics can be considered a reliable tool, it is difficult to argue with them.
Perhaps Desharnais may require more experience and guidance from a veteran in the next season.
Currently, his performance is not yielding favorable results, and Jay Woodcroft may need to make adjustments accordingly.
