The NHL trade deadline is quickly approaching and is nearly one months time away, on March 3rd 2023. Teams are in search to get a head start on things, and that includes several Canadian teams trying to make last minute additions, or be sellers in preparation for a rebuild or re-tooling process.

One team in particular who is clearly going into a rebuild is the Montreal Canadiens, who are 7th last in the entire NHL with a 20-25-4 record, and with recent news of star forward Cole Caufield requiring surgery which will sideline him for the rest of the year, they are sure in on the ''Connor Bedard sweepstakes''.

With zero chance at making the playoffs the Canadiens are expecting to be seller, but are they..? Well, it seems as if they've already declined a trade offer received which contained a first round pick.

The Montreal Canadiens were offered a first-round pick for F Josh Anderson but turned it down. Per, Pierre Lebrun.

Anderson only has 17 points on the year for the Canadiens and carries a ridiculous cap hit of $5.5 million per year until 2028, something not many teams will be interested in for his style of power-forward play. Teams will certainly request that the Canadiens retain salary, or he most definitely will not be moved.
