Stuart Skinner snubbed as Matty Beniers claims 2023 Calder Trophy
In a surprising turn of events, Stuart Skinner of the Edmonton Oilers found himself on the wrong end of the Calder Trophy race.
Instead, the prestigious honor went to Matty Beniers, who was named the 2023 Rookie of the Year.
While Beniers showcased his scoring prowess with 7 goals in 33 games following the all-star break, it's hard not to feel that Skinner's contributions were overlooked.
The young goaltender played a vital role in the Oilers' playoff run and was instrumental in their success during the crucial stretch.
It's a disappointing outcome for Skinner and his supporters, but his impact on the team cannot be understated.
