With the Edmonton Oilers currently 0-2 to start the regular season, head coach Jay Woodcroft will need to rethink his team's strategy.

Last season, the team was 1-2 by the third game of the regular season, so all is not lost. Nonetheless, Woodcroft went back to the drawing board and came up with a plan to revitalize the team.

Line shuffle this morning.

Kane-Draisaitl-McDavid
Foegele-RNH-Hyman
Holloway-McLeod-Brown
Erne-Janmark-Ryan

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Broberg
Desharnais

He will play McDavid on the wing, while Leon Draisaitl will center McDavid and Evander Kane.

The team's inability to pierce through opposition defenses during 5v5 play has forced Woodcroft to consider a major change, while keeping Kane on the line to help the team make the paradigm shift.

McDavid and Draisaitl are always a cheat code for the team when it comes to revitalizing their offense. We are not sure whether this will be a long-term solution as usually the two are used on the same power-play unit.

Of course, that would leave the Oilers easier to defend against, since your top two stars would be on the same line.

A bonus-heavy contract and the acquisition of Connor Brown does not provide any confidence in the decision to dump the Eerie Otters teammates so early. It is possible, however, that this is all about revitalizing the chemistry between McDavid and Draisaitl as well.
