The Edmonton Oilers are currently battling to get back into the playoff picture this season after a magical run to the Western Conference Finals last year.

However, the team's character has come into question after Tuesday night's game vs the Calgary Flames. During a rush by Oilers captain Connor Mcdavid, Flames defenceman Mackenzie Weegar would nail him with what looked to be a knee on knee clip.

Thankfully McDavid was alright but it was shocking that McDavid's teammates didn't come for Weegar's head after the dangerous hit.

Nearly 100% of the time if you hit their star player you better watch your back because you're in for some payback. However this is the best player in the world and the Weegar got away with nothing at all, its very disappointing to see.

Weegar would even look at the referee after throwing the cheap blow, expecting a penalty, but on another surprising note; one wasn't called.
