There are rumours that the Oilers might be looking for a different backup goalie in the off-season. With how inconsistent Jack Campbell has been this year, and how good Stuart Skinner has been, they might look to ship Campbell out in the off-season.

There have also been rumours that the Oilers might try and trade Campbell to be able to afford bringing in Erik Karlsson. As well all know the Oilers tried really hard to acquire him at the trade deadline but they weren't able to make a deal happen.

The Sharks would be able to absorb all of Campbell's contract and give him a chance at getting his career back on track in a relatively stress-free atmosphere of a clearly rebuilding team.

And if Edmonton gets Campbell off the books and can find a cheap backup to Skinner say Dan Vladar, if Calgary makes him available for trade this summer because Dustin Wolf is ready to play in the NHL then suddenly, that Karlsson cap hit may be a little more manageable.

Maybe the Sharks need to eat only $2 million of the deal and then Edmonton can part with the two or three young assets San Jose will be looking for, like Phillip Broberg, Xavier Bourgault etc.

With that being said, who would Edmonton bring in as a backup? Well as Eric Duhatschek said, Dan Vladar would be a good cheap option he is currently 13-6-5 with a 2.87 GAA and a .893 SV%, which may not seem the best, but he also plays on Calgary who's defence hasn't been great this year.

Vladar is still on his entry level deal which finishes this year, and becomes a RFA, but if the Oilers were to trade for him they would more then likely be able to sign him to a cheap prove it deal.
