Vegas star defenseman prepared to hang up skates for his daughter.
The adage is true family comes first. That goes for any professional sport or anything in life for that matter. Alex Pietrangelo prepared to do just that six months ago when his four-year-old daughter was diagnosed with encephalitis causing a brain lesion that prevented her from walking, talking or eating.
The good news is after treatments, his daughter made a recovery and is fully healthy once again. She was able to celebrate her father's Stanley Cup win that night. He was prepared to hang up his skates and put down the hockey stick to be with his daughter and to do whatever it took to help her get better.
Pietrangelo was interviewed by Fox news and mentioned this quotes.
"I never envisioned a moment like this back then. And now, to win a Cup, to have her running around the ice to celebrate with us, I mean, dreams do come true. And this is a dream."
"There's more to life than some things. And whether it's this job or another job, I felt like I needed to be there for not only my family but my wife, too," he said in his first remarks since returning.
It's amazing news that she has recovered fully and that she can return to a full healthy life after this terrible scare.
