When asked about his new linemate, Draisaitl, Connor McDavid speaks out about it
The Edmonton Oilers are looking for offense after going 0-2 in their first two games of the NHL regular season. Coach Jay Woodcroft is doing something we could all expect.
As McDavid and Draisaitl look to turn their fortunes around, he is reuniting them on the same line.
According to McDavid, Draisaitl will make the combination work as evidenced above, and he is optimistic about it.
The addition of Leon Draisaitl to the Oilers' first line demonstrates Woodcroft's desire to generate offense through all means. Woodcroft hopes to break the small slump the team is currently in by utilizing the two who have always had great chemistry together.
Analytical nerds have well documented that when the two are paired, the team's xGF(goals for) percentage rises dramatically.
Although this is technically the Oilers' nuclear option, will they stick to it for now or will it be a future gamble?
