It was a great battle and game where Team Canada defeated Team USA in the 4 Nations Faceoff by a score of 3-2 in Overtime with Connor McDavid scoring the game winning goal.

The ice was tilting in favour of the United States in overtime as they began to put high pressure on Team Canada's goaltender Jordan Binnington which he stood tall and made several grade A saves to keep Canada in the game.
When speaking to media in on-ice interviews during the game, McDavid admitted that he didn't have his best game and was hesitant to hoist the 4 Nations Cup - but he still got the job done.

McDavid managed to find some space and put the puck past Team USA goalie Connor Hellebuyck top right shelf to give Team Canada their first win best on best against the United States in the last 10 years.
Speaking to ESPN after the game, McDavid said that he wasn't satisfied with his full game. It's a great display of humility for a player that just won the game in overtime.
Really exciting. Just found a way. I thought everyone played solid. I wasn't great all night, but we found a way.

When presented with the 4 Nations Cup, McDavid was clearly hesitant hold it up. Mostly it was Cup Champions who were excited to hoist it, but McDavid still has his eyes on the NHL's Biggest trophy.
After a rough and physical game in the Round Robin, both countries settled into a true battle of attrition where each side had great chances to win this game and gave the fanbase a true tret to watch.
This tournament is the first of many to come and it's clear that all players involved bought into the idea of this and gave their best to the fans. The NHL was looking to deliver for the fans, and they hit a home run.

Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl reacted to the event in real time, congratulating McDavid by simply posting «97» on his Instagram story.
It's quite likely that the gap between tournaments against the United States and Canada along with other countries will likely grow and continue to develop in the coming years.
With all that went on between booing anthems, extreme physical play and great skilled hockey. Fans will sit back and enjoy this moment as they shift gears and prepare for 2026 where the Winter Olympics will see the best-on-best hockey return to the world stage.
