There may be some trouble brewing for the Edmonton Oilers and their goalie, Jack Campbell. Ken Holland, the team's executive, may be regretting his decision to buy Campbell as his performance this season didn't quite justify the price.

The Oilers acquired Campbell after the Toronto Maple Leafs declined to meet his asking price and instead signed Matt Murray and Ilysa Samsonov as replacements.

The Oilers may consider upgrading the goalie position by using this as an opportunity to move Campbell's contract. Despite winning his last five games, Campbell's save percentage was still below average at .888%.

One of them is John Gibson, who despite his age, is still a reliable goalie and could be a great mentor to Skinner. This could help stabilize the net and improve the team's overall performance.

As Campbell is the more expensive of the two goalies, Holland will need to find a way to give him a fresh start while also ensuring the Oilers have a chance to win every night in the net.

This will also give Stuart Skinner the opportunity to rest. If Holland is able to shed Campbell's contract, there are interesting options available.
