Jaromir Jagr is suiting up for another professional hockey season at age 52, and in the second game of the season, he scored his first goal.
Jagr cleanly received a pass from his defenceman and made a seamless spin move to get a backhand shot off. He followed up on the rebound, and managed to put it past the goalie for a go-ahead goal.
Turning 53 years old later this season, Jagr showed some real skill for his age on this goal. It's unbelievable that he's still playing professionally, and even more so that he's actually still good. That's just the same as Jagr was in his NHL career though, memorably scoring 27 goals with the Florida Panthers when he was 44 years old.
When Jagr finally retires, he'll receive a long overdue celebration of his fantastic career and be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. In 1733 career NHL games, Jagr scored 766 goals and 1921 points. In addition to his extensive overseas career, there's a solid case to be made that Jagr is one of the greatest hockey players of all time. It's special that he's still performing in his final year before retirement, and hockey fans should be appreciating every moment of it.
