Dom Luszczysyn Of the Athletic revealed that Maple Leaf fans have little confidence in Leafs management on how they have constructed this team through several ways.

The article revealed that the Maple Leafs sit 30th out of 32 teams When it comes to roster building, cap management, trading, free agency and vision Given several poor grades on all those categories. General manager Brad Treliving along with President Brendan Shanahan have worked this summer to try to reinforce their position especially on defense.

But it seems the public is not buying it as many questions continue to swirl around this team and how it's constructed. Many people have felt that a portion of the Core 4 who hold over 40% of the cap space needs to be unraveled and traded to give the team a different look. The trade has yet to materialize as most feel that Mitch Marner would be on his way to a new organization.

During their end of season press conference, both men and including newly appointed CEO of MLSE Keith Pelley express the team's only concern is winning and that's all that matters.

The Leafs did improve their defence in the short term; however, they chose defensemen that are over the age of 30 and has given an extensive contract to Chris Tanev which will stretch till he's 41 years old.

While most Leaf fans feel the team can make the playoffs next year, it's likely most of the fan base still cannot see a long playoff run as the public has shown in this poll.
