Ovechkin reveals how much NHLers drink beer in dressing room
Alexander Ovechkin has always been a big personality in the NHL, and in a recent interview, he described a bit of his behind the scenes shenanigans in his career.
Ovechkin hilarious said that he and the Capitals teammates can be counted on to crush a few beers in the locker room after a game, taken from the Coach's office.
»I can't imagine a [player] who says he doesn't drink, You can take a break for a certain time, but after the game, 2 to 3 cans of beer with pleasure.»
It's hilarious and awesome to hear Ovechkin openly detail taking beers from the coach and drinking them postgame in the locker room - it's part of the old soul that Ovechkin is, and something that was probably more prevalent decades ago in the NHL. Still, even though fans have ideations that players are the pictures of health and nutrition, they're still crushing beers after the game and some are even smoking cigarettes in between periods.
»Some guys still do it (smoke cigarettes) now. I can't tell you who, but yeah, they do."
- Jamie Benn, Dallas Stars Captain This story will be another that will add to the charm of Alexander Ovechkin. Now 38 years old, Ovi's got two more years left on his contract with the Capitals and 54 goals back from Wayne Gretzky's career goal record. If he keeps up his offensive pace from last year scoring 33 goals, and perhaps lays off the beer and cigarettes, he'll have clear shot at breaking the record.
