Cole Caufield changes number to honour Johnny Gaudreau, writes heartfelt tribute
In a new post on Instagram, Cole Caufield announced that he will be wearing number 13 for Johnny Gaudreau.
Caufield offered his condolences to the Gaudreau family, and spoke about how missed Johnny and Matthew will be from so many people. Caufield had been vocal about Gaudreau being one of his hockey heroes growing up as a smaller player who dazzled with skill. He had worn number 13 earlier in his career, but now will be wearing it again to honour his idol. It's an incredible gesture to make.
Earlier today, the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets announced candlelight vigils for the Gaudreau brothers in the next week. Fans from all over the hockey world are pouring out in mourning, and it's great that the two cities Johnny Hockey played in are able to honour him. Surely, many more teams will find ways to honour the Gaudreau's this season.
