A veteran goalie should be explored as a trade option for the Edmonton Oilers, according to Rob Soria on X.
In particular, James Reimer was recently signed to a 1-year, $1.5 million contract by Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings.
Reimer might not be in his prime anymore, but he has played 6 games in Detroit's system and posted a .917 save percentage with a 2.30 GAA and 2 wins and 2 losses.
He was the #1 goalie in San Jose for two seasons before moving to Detroit.
As a veteran who played 46 games with the Sharks in 2021-2022, he could be a reliable 1B for Stuart Skinner.
In addition, he has an affordable cap hit, which could make him an attractive rental option after losing Jack Campbell so early in the season.
Throughout his NHL career, the 35-year-old has posted 206-171-60 records in 442 starts and a respectable 2.85 goals against average. A total of 10 playoff games started with a combined 5-5-0 record and a .925 save percentage.
