Vancouver Canucks officially acquire Elias Lindholm in blockbuster trade
Moments ago, news became official that the Vancouver Canucks have officially completed a blockbuster trade to acquire the best forward available at this year's deadline - Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames.
The situation is rapidly evolving, but multiple insiders are reporting that Andrei Kuzmenko has waived his no-trade clause and will be heading to the Flames as part of the trade.
It's an incredible move by the Canucks who are proving to be all-in on their surprisingly successful year. In Lindholm, the Canucks will have an elite two-way center with offensive ability, and give them incredible depth down the middle with Pettersson and Miller as well. Lindholm has struggled this year with only 9 goals, but is only two years removed from scoring 42 goals, and would likely perform better with the Canucks supporting players.
For the Flames, they'll likely acquire at least a first round draft pick and high end prospect along with Kuzmenko. Kuzmenko himself is an interesting player, signed for this year and next year at $5.5M, he's struggled greatly this season after scoring 39 goals in his rookie year last year.
