A few moments ago, Oilers prospect Filip Engaras sustained a violent collision with the boards during the Laval Rocket - Utica Comets game..

The play began at 5 minutes and 57 seconds left in the third. With Laval up 4-2 against the Comets. Engaras was carrying the puck into the offensive zone when Rocket Zack Hayes made some light contact with Engaras causing him to lose his balance and careened into the boards violently.

The scene became grim as Engaras remained motionless on the ice for several minutes to which he was escorted off the ice on a stretcher. Many feel that this hit had no malicious intent, and it was a simple case of losing one's balance and being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

It became clear that he was in trouble so much so that Laval goaltender Jakub Dobes intervened quickly to help the fallen player. There is no word on his condition, but the Laval staff was quick to respond and helped him greatly. Engaras was selected by the Oilers in the 2020 Entry draft, sixth round, 169th overall.

According to eliteprospects.com, the 25-year-old right winger who stands at six foot 1 and 201 pounds had split his time between the Adirondak Thunder of the ECHL last year and the Comets where he played 53 games, scoring six goals with six assists for 12 points and had 12 penalty minutes.

We here at OilersDaily hope there is the best case scenario possible for Engaras, and that he's able to make a quick recovery. All of hockey will be thinking of him.
