The Hlinka Gretzky Cup final took place earlier today and there was one noticeable problem which happens to be the terrible crowd size to watch the final.

Numerous tweets had reported that only half the lower bowl was for sale however the biggest issue that kept coming up from fans was the lack of marketing and knowledge of the actual tournament happening in Edmonton.

Many people had not seen anything in terms of ads or marketing to give hockey fans knowledge of this tournament that has been going on since 1991.

Coupled with the poor marketing, it begs the question to why they would only sell half of the lower bowl rather than the entire bowl to give a better feel for the fans to enjoy.

The Gretzky Hlinka Cup has been in operation since 1991 and is run by Hockey Canada, the Czech ice hockey association and the Slovak ice hockey Federation.

No matter the case, there's hope that a better strategy could be done to get the word out for people to go see this tournament even if it's hockey in the middle of August. Canada won gold and it's 25th title against the Czech Republic.
