Oilers owner Daryl Katz is having a fantastic stretch for himself and the team, although he still not be too popular with fans. Right now, the Oilers are skyrocketing in franchise value with their successes on and off the ice. The Oilers run to the Stanley Cup Final, their commitment to keeping their star players, and their investment in a world class arena in Rogers Place. The franchise value of the Oilers has increased over 50% from last year to an incredible number of $2.4M.
Despite these successes, there are still some value reasons fans aren't too fond of Daryl Katz. The ticket price increases in last year's playoffs became incredibly steep, especially in the Stanley Cup Final. Drink prices and concessions are forever increasing at Rogers Place, and the team has also begun to sell advertisements on their home and away jerseys. Fans are even charged an extra fee to wear the advertisement patch on their own jerseys!
Katz isnt the most popular owner, but he has undoubtedly brought the team back to success after the decade of darkness.
