Oilers general manager Stan Bowman is now settled into his job, facing two potential offer sheets directed towards two of his youngest players.

Both Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg currently do not have a contract going into the new season and both players have completed their entry level deals.

Both players are in different places in their careers has Holloway who has struggled with injuries seeks to be on the roster full time and Broberg who showed promise during the playoffs is trying to do the same.

The Oilers are currently in a cap crunch where they are over $300,000 over the cap which is currently allowed due to the 10% rule before the season starts. But Bowman and Jeff Jackson will need to make decisions on how to keep both players on the roster and stave off any threats towards an offer sheet.

Both players have significant upsides and could be enticing to send an offer sheet as the cost of return would not be as high as some other players in the league.

According to prohockeyrumors.com, a team could offer sheet Broberg for a one year $2.29 million deal which would see a third-round pick head back to the Oilers. Due to the low amount of games played it would not constitute a first rounder.

Offer sheets have occurred in the NHL from time to time but it's not standard practice by most teams. Many offer sheets have not panned out and it's likely this practice may not happen here.

But with a month and a half to go prior to training camp beginning, the Oilers need to be prepared for anything that could come their way, including an offer sheet as they want to protect their depth and players who will make an impact in the very near future.
