Oilers Corey Perry reveals why players re-signed in Edmonton

It's been a few weeks since Corey Perry had re signed with the Oilers and he reveals his reasons why players have wanted to stay in Edmonton.

"To build on what we accomplished."

The 39-year-old winger decided to re-sign with the team as he locked in a one year $1.15 million contract as some felt he may hang up his skates. With the Oilers going to game seven in the Stanley Cup finals, it seems to have left him and others a growing sense of unfinished business while building off what they have accomplished.

Many felt the Oilers may have a tough time maintaining their team as there was a cap crunch emerging. Interim general manager Jeff Jackson gave a masterful performance on the 1st week have unrestricted free agency when he signed several players and filled key holes in the lineup that have given fans a reason to believe he should be general manager.

Perry's playoffs did not go as well as hoped as he had played nineteen games, scoring one goal with two assists for three points and was a - 3. His leadership will be key going into next season does the Oilers have added NHL veteran Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson to help bolster the offence.

The next stage for the Oilers is finding a new general manager which may be announced within the next several days as Jeff Jackson appears to be preparing for his choice.
