Zach Hyman Could Still End Up on Team Canada Roster, According to New Reports
Oilers forward Zach Hyman recently got the tough news that he would be cut from the Team Canada 4 Nations Roster, but NHL Insider Frank Seravalli says he may still have a path to playing as a replacement.
Canada GM Don Sweeney put out a message to cut players to stay ready to play in case another player goes down with injury.
According to Frank Seravalli on today's edition of Daily Faceoff Live, Hyman is second on the list for forward replacements, after Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele.
»Three names who I believe have come to the top of Team Canada's list [for possible injury replacements]. They incude Mark Scheifele from the Winnipeg Jets, Zach Hyman from the Edmonton Oilers, and on defence, I believe one of the last players cut was MacKenzie Weegar from the Calgary Flames.»

Zach Hyman speaks on making Team Canada as an injury replacement
While it's a reality that Hyman could be selected later as an injury replacement, he doesn't want to consider that possibility. Yesterday, Mark Spector asked Hyman about it, and he shut the idea down hard.
Honestly, that's the furthest thing from my mind. I hope that everybody's that's selected stays healthy. Never wish anything on anybody. So, whoever's named to the team, I hope they play great and stay healthy.
-Zach Hyman
After Hyman's 54 goal season and key role in the Oilers Stanley Cup Final run, many believed Hyman would be a sure thing for Team Canada.
Unfortunately, he was mired in a scoring slump with only 2 goals this season, and sustained an injury against the Ottawa Senators that have affected his Team Canada bid.
When he returned from injury last night, Hyman sent a message to the critics that he's still an elite player. Hyman broke the scoring slump by scoring two goals, and playing his gritty style of hockey on the forecheck.
Zach Hyman may never score 54 goals in a season again, but he's one of the hardest working forechecking forwards in the league with an elite finishing touch in close. In a short tournament where players need chemistry to succeed right away, Hyman maybe should've been on the team with McDavid.
For now, we'll just have to see how it shakes out, and hope Hyman makes a case for Canada at the Olympics in Milan.
