One of the Edmonton Oilers' prospects will miss the majority of the season of development in the OHL. He is the teams' top asset at the moment.

The 56th overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, Beau Akey, has suffered a dislocated shoulder.

The dislocated shoulder required surgery to be repaired by Akey as a result of the injury.

On November 10th, the 18-year-old scored a goal on two shots in a win over the Mississauga Steelheads for his fourth goal and ninth point.

I'm told defenceman Beau Akey, selected 56th overall by the

in the 2023 Entry Draft and playing with the Barrie Colts, is done for the balance of this season after having surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder.

Before being selected by the Oilers in 2023, the defenseman had posted 11 goals and 47 points in 66 games. He made quite an impression during the Penticton Young Stars Tournament as a smooth skater and power-play quarterback.

Since the Colts are 9-9 and tied with the Brantford Bulldogs for 7th in the Eastern Conference, it remains to be seen whether they will make the playoffs.

There's no timeframe for Akey's return, but we wish him a speedy and healthy recovery.
