According to a new report from Elliotte Friedman, Kane is expected to be available in January or February next year.
Kane revealed to the public that he played through a two hernias, two torn abductors, and two torn abdominal muscles through much of the regular season and playoffs. His surgery to rectify six different muscles in total scared fans into thinking he may miss the entire season. A few days ago, Kane shared an update on social media about his condition after the surgery.
Evander Kane could return to this Oilers lineup in the playoffs at full health for the first time in over a year, and could be a real impact player again. Last season while dealing with these injuries, Kane still scored 24 goals and led the Oilers in hits.
Now 33 years old and under contract for the next two years for $5.125M, Kane has been the subject of trade rumours when the Oilers were over the salary cap. The team is now under the salary cap even with Kane not on LTIR to begin the season, so they'll easily be able to activate him when he's ready to return to the lineup. If the Oilers make a trade to get a top four defenceman, they could be adding a star on both ends of the ice near the trade deadline this year.
Oilers fans will certainly be wishing the best for Evander in his recovery and return to the lineup. Get well soon!
