BREAKING: Trial date released for 2018 World Juniors offenders
With the recent news on the World Juniors incident, the law is finally taking this case very seriously. With the due process, the players have been sent to London, Ontario to report to the police to stand trial. So far the investigation has been pretty low profile, but it seems like things are finally getting rolling. On X, Friedman posted an article from Sportsnet where they reveal the official start date of the trial.
According to Friedman, the players will appear before the court in London on Monday. Additionally, Michael McLeod will be facing one more charge than the rest of the group for «being a party to the offence.» Lawyers for the players have stated their intentions to defend themselves against the allegations.
Even though the trial is set to be started this early, we won't actually know the verdict for a very long time. This is just a preliminary hearing, and it is to see if there is enough evidence for the court to take on this case.
Despite this, it's all but confirmed that they're going to go forward with the actual trial, which will take place at least a year in the future. That will give the lawyers on both sides to build their case, and see what evidence they can present in court.
It's good to finally see legal action for an incident that happened in 2018, and any news of case preceding is good news.
