Havoc Breaks Loose After Connor McDavid Gets Steamrolled With a Dangerous Hit
There has been a noticeable trend with the Oilers this season in that superstar forward Connor McDavid keeps getting harassed and hit by other teams. Occasionally there are clean checks and occasionally there are questionable checks, and tonight McDavid suffered yet another hit that made him crash pretty hard to the ice.
During the 2nd period, McDavid was hit by Jets right-winger Saku Maenalanen, who decided to use his leg to throw McDavid harder than usual. The play caught the attention of Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse, so he didn't take it lightly.
Lowry joined the fight and threw some bombs at Nurse after Nurse dropped his gloves and wanted to fight Manalanen who wasn't interested in tangling with him.
It's good to see that Nurse was willing to do what it takes to protect his captain, especially with all of the hits he's been taking recently. I'm quite sure McDavid appreciated the gesture as the Nurse took a 5-minute major for him.
