In recent games, Edmonton Oilers' star player Connor McDavid has been on the receiving end of some hard hits from opposing players. The Oilers seem to have realized that they need to do a better job of protecting their captain, given the frequency of these incidents.

During a game against the Dallas Stars, McDavid was targeted by Stars forward Jason Robertson. The play began in the Oilers' zone when McDavid was trying to break away with the puck. As he was exiting the zone, he collided with Robertson, who appeared to stick his knee out, leading to a collision with McDavid's knee.

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by either player, and Robertson was given a two-minute penalty for interference.

After the period ended, Elias Ekholm had a conversation with Robertson as they were leaving the ice. It is unclear whether the collision was intentional or not, and viewers are left to judge for themselves. In positive news, the Oilers won the game 4-1, further solidifying their position in the third spot in the Western Conference Pacific division.

Jay Woodcroft also chimed in, and he was not too happy:

«I saw it live and haven't seen a replay. I don't think Robertson is a dirty player who was hunting Connor's knee, but it was a dangerous play,» Woodcroft on knee-on-knee hit.
