John Tavares Sends a Text Message to an Edmonton Oilers Defensemen After Receiving Punishment From The NHL
The Edmonton Oilers recently took a tough 7-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs this past week in a game that felt like a playoff atmosphered crowd, which lead t John Tavares being fined $5,000 by the NHL's department of safety for this altercation below:
Somehow the referees decided to send both players to the box for coincidental minors, but the NHL player safety thought otherwise..
Now today, Desharnais revealed that Tavares sent him a text message and apologized in a very classy way:
Vincent Desharnais said John Tavares texted him to apologize for the slash in Saturday's game. VD said he appreciated the text, but told Tavares not to worry. «It's part of the game,» he responded. Although that does not take away the lumberjack slash on the wrist that Desharnais received, it is still nice to see the respect between fellow players.
