Like Father, like son, ex-Legends son signs with an NHL team
Hockey is a beloved pastime for many people, including families and children who often follow in their relatives' footsteps.
Andrei Kovalenko, also known as "The Tank," was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in 1990 and played with the Edmonton team for three seasons.
This is Andrei's son, the former Oiler, Nordique, etc.
Tank Jr.
Now, his son Nikolai Kovalenko is making a name for himself in the NHL by signing with his former club, the Colorado Avalanche. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, while his father played for the Carolina Hurricanes, Nikolai was drafted by the Avalanche in the sixth round in 2018.
Recently, Nikolai signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Avalanche. In his final season playing for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL, he scored 21 goals and 33 assists, tallying 54 points in the second-best hockey league in the world.
It remains to be seen whether Nikolai will follow in his father's footsteps as "Tank Jr." or develop his own unique skill set.
