Oilers defenseman Cody Ceci has had his share of criticism over the years of his career. Beginning with the Ottawa Senators and then with the Toronto Maple Leafs and now with his third Canadian team that is the Edmonton Oilers, His questionable play has always come into focus with pundits and fans.

What looked to be a simple play and dump out of their zone turned into a nightmare for the Oilers when Leafs superstar Mitch Marner managed to take the puck away from Ceci with ease. Whether he lost his focus or forgot that he was playing the game he gave the puck away to Marner which led to Leafs forward David Kampf scoring on Stuart Skinner.

Even after the goal was scored you could see the look on Kampf's face that he was dumbfounded by the play.

For the 2022-2023 season, he has played 61 games, scored one goal with nine assists for a total of 10 points and holds a + 9.

Ceci is currently locked in for another two seasons with the Oilers holding a $3.25 million cap hit. One can hope that his play will improve and be worth the money that he's being paid.
