Now that the countdown is on heading into the 2023 NHL playoffs, we got one thing to do before that and that's one of the busiest times of year, the NHL trade deadline day. There's going to be a lot of players available for team's looking to bolster their lineup for the playoffs.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to make some moves to take another run at the Stanley Cup, while the Chicago Blackhawks are looking to basically have a fire sale. One Blackhawks player Oilers General Manager Ken Holland is believed to be interested in is Forward Sam Lafferty.

The 27 year-old could be a nice addition adding some depth scoring with 8 goals and 9 assists in 40 games with the Blackhawks. Lafferty got some high praise from The Daily Faceoff's Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli.

"If You're looking for a player who may bring a surprising return at the deadline, it might be Blackhawks Sam Lafferty.

Speed to burn, Quality penalty killer, Term on contract. Inexpensive cap hit. The Hawks have a diamond in the rough."

With the Oilers are looking to trade forward Jesse Puljujärvi, maybe they can convince the Blackhawks and GM Kyle Davidson into taking him so Ken Holland can free up a ton of cap.

After making it to the Western Conference Finals last season, losing to the Colorado Avalanche, the Oilers hope to make another run and this time bring the Stanley Cup back to Edmonton and Canada.
