Arrest made in connection to Johnny Gaudreau's passing

This morning, tragic news was confirmed that star forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau have passed away.

The Columbus Blue Jackets issued a statement this morning on the passing of their star player. Now, more details are emerging about the accident that took his life.

The driver of the vehicle, Sean Higgins, has been arrested and charged with impaired driving according to the Columbus Dispatch. Reports from the scene say that the driver was swerving through lanes to try to pass other vehicles on the road when he struck the Gaudreau brothers biking along the side of the road. Higgins is currently in custody at the Salem County Correctional Facility. Attached below is a picture of Higgins.

The Gaudreau family was gathered to celebrate the wedding of their sister scheduled for tonight. It's unimaginable that the family's night could be changed so quickly from a celebration to this awful reality.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHL released a statement on Gaudreau's passing, detailing his legacy as Johnny Hockey. From Boston College, to the Calgary Flames, and the Columbus Blue Jackets, Johnny Gaudreau always brought a youthful energy to the game, dazzling fans with his unbelievable skill and speed. He was only 31 years old, and is leaving behind his wife Meredith, and his two young children, Noa and Johnny.

At this time, the entire hockey world is mourning the Gaudreau brothers and is thinking of their family, and hopefully justice is reached within the legal system.
