Former NHL player Mike Rupp has weighed in on what might happen with the Ottawa Senators if they don't make the playoffs and he feels that major changes will come if they don't.

During an interview with the NHL Network Rupp explains that the Ottawa Senators have reached a crossroads in terms of their current build and making the playoffs. Last season was pegged as a step forward for the senators as their young core continues to grow together and the organization felt that goaltender Joonas Korpisalo was the answer.

One year later, the team is still in the same position and many questions remain about whether they will make the playoffs or not. Adding Linus Ullmark is a great step forward for the team that had goaltending was one of their main concerns going into this offseason.

The Senators also have Steve Staios as their general manager and a new head coach in Travis Green. It remains to be seen on how the senators will respond to green but as they continue to develop with many youngsters in the pipeline it's likely the senators will take the next step and become a playoff team this year.

It's certainly agreeable that Rupp may be right and major changes will happen as new Senators owner Michael Andlauer expects his near billion-dollar acquisition to start producing results.
