Former Oiler Warren Foegele rips Toronto reporter at end of interview
Former Oilers forward Warren Foegele joined TSN's OverDrive for an interview today, and as he was signing off, he showed he was a fan of the show by jokingly ripping into host Bryan Hayes.
HAYES: Congrats on a great season in Edmonton, and I know it's been a busy time, so I appreciate you finding some time for us.
FOEGELE: Yeah, thanks for having me, and uh, Hayes is a fraud.
The saying of Hayes is a fraud' is a long running gag on the show, and pokes fun at Hayes for being the only non-player as the host of the show. It's a friendly jab at the host, who you can tell is even laughing it up himself.
Foegele signed with the Los Angeles Kings for 3 years at $3.5M a year after a career 20-goal season with the Oilers in 2023-24. Despite his best offensive year, the Oilers were content to let him walk in free agency and spend to acquire Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson. In his exit interview, Foegele practically admitted the Oilers had no interest in re-signing him.
Foegele gave the Oilers all he had on every shift for three years, and for that the fans will be grateful for his time here - but won't be wishing him good luck with the rival Los Angeles Kings.
