After the play, Patrick Maroon was clearly incensed, going after Domi on multiple shifts afterwards and barking from the bench nonstop.
Domi was getting under the skin of his opponent with this greasy play, something the Leafs have sorely lacked in previous playoff matchups against a team like the Bruins. Domi didn't make contact with Swayman particularly hard, but Swayman looked like he exaggerated the contact to try to draw a penalty. Domi's play did seem to energize the team, as the Leafs opened the team's scoring just a few minutes later on a goal from Matthew Knies.
This series has been one of the most physical across the NHL in the first round, as the Leafs seemed to particularly build themselves to be able to stand up to the physicality of the east in the playoffs. An incredible total of 60 hits were thrown in the for at period, including awesome segments of repeated massive hits like this.
Domi is one of the primary new characters leading the Leafs into this more pesky and physical style of hockey.
