The Florida Panthers have been constantly partying with the Stanley Cup since their win a few weeks ago, but today the NHL and Gary Bettman announced will reclaim the Cup from the Florida Panthers and end their celebration.

The Stanley Cup is one of the best trophies in sports, not only for its look and how hard it is to win, but the personal nature of the trophy is perhaps the best aspect of the trophy - especially the name engraving.

Today, the Keeper of the Cup Phil Pritchard announced that the NHL will be taking the trophy back to Montreal, where its longtime engraver will take care of this year's champions. According to Pritchard, the NHL just received today the list of 52 names the Panthers will engrave on the Stanley Cup, which finally allows the process to begin.

Carl Poul Petersen works on the Stanley Cup in his Montreal studio, likely in the early 1960s, and Louise St. Jacques with the trophy in 2014. She has been the Cup's silversmith since 1989, adding team and player names for the past 35 years.
«We had a little impromptu meeting with Louise at the side of the road at the airport, she took the Cup from us and we flew back to Toronto,» Pritchard said.

«Louise can do a bit of it now,» he said. «But adding the names, the biggest part of her work, can't be done until she has the list.»

After the painstaking engraving process is completed, each team member will get his day with the Cup, and the party will continue until the beginning of next season. Hopefully next year, it's the Oilers that will be taking it all around north Alberta.
