Zach Hyman has developed a reputation of one of the hardest working players in the NHL, and one example of it was his quick return from breaking his nose this season.

In December this season, Hyman took a slap shot to the face from teammate Evan Bouchard that broke his nose, and now he's opening up on the gross experience.

Zach Hyman details his latest injury from Evan Bouchard slap shot

Hyman has broke his nose more than a few times now in his NHL career, but the details he shared about this particular break were especially gritty. He knew right away that his nose was turned all the way around, and yet, he still returned to play later that game.

Yeah, not to get too graphic, but as soon as it hit me I knew something was off. I thought I lost my nose, to be honest. It hit me here, and my nose moved over here. So as soon as it hit me, I instantly put my hands up. I didn't want my mom or my wife to see my face like that.

- Zach Hyman

Despite being such a nasty situation, Hyman describes the entire ordeal smiling and laughing, playing it off as business as usual - because it is.

It's an incredible display of dedication and courage for Hyman to return to play the same game after going through such an injury, but that's exactly who Hyman is. He's a treasure of a person and player for the Oilers.

Also speaking with Marek in the same interview, Hyman also spoke on some of his recent actions in owning the OHL's Branford Bulldogs. While on the 4 Nations Faceoff break, Hyman had the chance to visit his new team and get on the ice with his players.

Hyman's scoring is down this season, with only 19 goals and 32 points in 50 games. He's still been a quality contributor for the team, and it may be unrealistic to expect him to match his goal totals from 2023-24 again.

Still, it's his work ethic and dedication to the game that's earned the utmost respect from fans in Oil Country. He'd break his nose and come back for a regular season game, he'd do anything to win a Stanley Cup.
