Team USA has named Canucks superstar defenceman Quinn Hughes to their 4 Nations Faceoff roster as a replacement, but as of now, he will not be able to play in the final against Team Canada.

Hughes was added to the roster in response to Charlie McAvoy being ruled out of the tournament after being admitted to hospital for an infection.

Quinn Hughes will be unable to play in 4 Nations Faceoff final against Canada

According to a report from Elliotte Friedman, despite being named to the roster as the replacement, Hughes will not travel to join Team USA without a real path to actually playing. For now, Hughes is staying at Canucks practice.
Hughes backed out of the 4 Nations Tournament earlier due to an injury, and even at practice today, he wore a non-contact jersey. The Canucks could be being precautions in the case that he joins the team.
On the other hand, NHL insider Frank Seravalli confirmed that Hughes will be travelling to joint the team regardless.

Conflicting reports on whether Quinn Hughes will play final against Team Canada

Between conflicting reports on whether Hughes will travel to join Team USA, it's unclear whether he'll actually play in the 4 Nations Final.
The tournament rules were shoddily set up for injury replacements, and special exemption was quickly granted for Canada. In the spirit of best on best, teams should be able to make roster changes in case of injury.
Hopefully there can be a way for Quinn Hughes to join the game, and truly make it a best on best competition against Team Canada - this international hockey has been sorely missed for too long.
