It appears that the Edmonton Oilers may have found the next Brayden Point who happens to be on the Bakersfield Condors as rookie centre Matthew Savoie his showing strong similarities.

After a slow start to his season, Savoie has caught fire and through 45 games played this year, he scored 13 goals 24 assists for 37 points and is a + 16 with 18 penalty minutes. It seems that point also had the same kind of output and around the same age.

Savoie making his case to be called up to the Oilers

As the Four Nations faceoff is set to conclude on Thursday, most NHL teams will restart their schedule on Saturday will see Savoie recalled to the Oilers as the team evaluates its depth ahead of the March trade deadline. He's with the team but not as an official call up yet.
The Oilers are in a win now mode and will likely make some trades at the deadline to help bolster their lines but bringing up Savoie will help reduce the need to making a big trade for a centre on the bottom six if Savoie can make the transition to the NHL and make an impact at the same time.

Oilers preparing for road trip with Savoie joining the team

The NHL schedule including the Oilers will now be jam packed down the stretch as there will be seven games remaining between today and the March trade deadline. The team will be starting a five game road trip where they will take on the Flyers, Capitals, lightning, Panthers and Hurricanes.
"A little bit of a slow start adjusting to pro hockey but I've been playing really well the last couple weeks... Feeling really confident & good about my game." Matt Savoie on his play with the @Condors after today's #Oilers practice.

Some of these games will be a test of the Oilers resolve as several of these teams will be either fighting for a playoff spot or one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.
With Savoie with the team, It's likely he will see game action during this road trip and hopefully he can stay for the remainder of the season as it's unlikely the team will trade him after being acquired from the Buffalo Sabres for Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio.
The Oilers will begin their road trip at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday February 22nd and game time will be 1:00 PM Eastern.
