Maple Leafs fans are known for their unique and sometimes humorous displays of celebration or frustration directed at their home team and players. Whether it's tossing home jerseys onto the ice in frustration or even waffles, it's common for people to throw hats onto the ice when a player scores a hat trick for the home team.
Auston Matthews achieved his third hat trick of the season against the Buffalo Sabres tonight. As the hats showered down onto Scotiabank Arena, a photo captured an arena worker removing a bra that had been thrown onto the ice.
Whether the fan didn't have a hat or simply wanted to express her respect in her unique way, the photo quickly went viral on the Internet and brought a smile to the faces of many fans.
Despite Matthews' impressive performance, the Maple Leafs went on to lose the game 6-4, in a high-scoring, defense-lacking match. After 11 games, Matthews has recorded 11 goals and 4 assists, accumulating 15 points.
