An article in Sportshandle recently ranked the best and worst fighting teams across the NHL this season, and saw the Ottawa Senators with the lowest percentage of fights won. In 24 fights this year, the Senators were only scored a win 5 times.
The San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators, Vegas Golden Knights, and Arizona Coyotes rounded out the bottom 5 for the worst fighting teams in the NHL this year. The Canucks were the 6th worst, and the Oilers were right behind ranked as the 7th worst. The Nashville Predators were the team the got kicked in the most, losing 22 fights - more than any other team.
On the other hand, the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, and Colorado Avalanche were ranked as the best fighting teams this year. The Flyers had an impeccable record, fighting 23 times and scoring a win in 22 of them. Only three players, Nic Deslauries, Kurtis MacDermid, and Tom Wilson went undefeated in their fights this year.
Whether you love or hate fighting in hockey, fans will always be cheering for their team to win when a scrap breaks out on the ice. Not only that, but it's really an integral part to team building and the physical aspect of the game. You don't necessarily need to fight, but a serious team needs to be able to defend themselves and be willing to drop the gloves - and you'll definitely want to win more than you lose.
