It appears that the Edmonton Oilers may have made a solid signing with their PTO tryout player, Adam Erne. Erne, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2013 Entry Draft's second round, 33rd overall, has established himself as a third or fourth-line player.

Standing at 6 feet one inch and weighing 215 pounds, he would certainly provide the Oilers with the size and physicality they need for their penalty kill and shutdown roles.

In a recent game against the Vancouver Canucks, Erne showcased his offensive prowess by scoring a skillful goal against Casey DeSmith.

The Oilers have also signed a few other PTO players this season, including Brandon Sutter and Sam Gagner. Unfortunately, Gagner has been unable to play due to the surgery he underwent last season and will be reevaluated next month.

This opportunity will allow Erne to continue demonstrating to the Oilers' coaching staff that he deserves a spot on the roster and a contract for this year.
