Among all fans in professional sports, especially those who attend games in person or watch them at home, the enjoyment of a drink or two is a common theme. Beer and sports have an enduring connection, and it seems that a ranking has surfaced indicating which fan base consumes the most alcohol.
This survey, conducted by timetoplay.com, naturally places the Toronto Maple Leafs fan base at the top of the list. Given their recent playoff history and the frustrating inconsistency between their regular season and playoff performances, it's no wonder that Leafs fans might turn to a drink or many.
The Oilers fans, however, just missed the top five, securing the 6th position overall in terms of alcohol consumption. Their team has enjoyed better playoff success than the Maple Leafs, having advanced past the first round more than once and even reached a conference final in the last 10 years.
Oilers fans passionately support their team at every home game, which is evident.
Other teams in this ranking with a high likelihood of consuming alcohol include the Chicago Blackhawks, the surprisingly strong Tampa Bay Lightning, the Colorado Avalanche, and, of course, the beleaguered Arizona Coyotes franchise.
