The first one is goaltender Matt Berlin has been released from his Amateur tryout, which he had to sign to be able to be the emergency backup goaltender on Saturday night, due to the sickness of Stuart Skinner. Berlin was put in during the final frame with 3 minutes remaining, and he made one save on the only shot he faced, a ''shutout'' if you may say.
The second roster move is a little surprising, the Oilers are not playing until February seventh (eight days away) due to the NHL's All-Star break, but are still calling up forward Devin Shore. He was recently sent down to the Oilers AHL roster on a conditional loan, and you would figure the Oilers would call him up in more than one weeks time, so he can continue playing in the AHL, but they cut it early and he's now officially back.
Shore has been revealed to be on the Oilers trade block alongside forward Warren Foegele, but Shore has yet to do anything this season to help contirbute towards the Oilers success, he is just kind of..''there''. This could potentially mean a trade is on the way for Shore, as the Oilers have zero space for him throughout the lineup due to Evander Kane returning.
Unless they slot Shore in for one of Ryan McLeod, Jesse Puljujarvi or Mattias Janmark, which would not make much sense whatsoever.
