This morning, news surfaced that Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has parted ways with his agent J.P. Barry, and will now be represented by Ray Petkau.

Petkau announced on his social media that Skinner has acquired his services. Skinner had two season left on his contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, and is currently being paid a bargain salary at only $2.6M. After taking this team to a Cup Final Skinner will be due for a massive pay raise, and Petkau will help him get it.

Interestingly, Petkau represents a number of star goaltenders in the league, and even mentioned the phrase Goalie Union.' Petkau also represents Connor Hellebuyck, Laurent Brossoit, James Reimer, and Eric Comrie - clearly, he's a goaltending specialist. On the other hand, JP Barry handles a number of star players like David Pastrnak and Matthew Barzal, and not any other star goalies.

The offseason after the 2025-26 year may prove to be an extremely difficult one for the Edmonton Oilers. The team will need to re-sign Connor McDavid, Evan Bouchard, and Stuart Skinner in the same year, and the latter two will be collecting raises of over $5M each. For a team that's already pressed against the cap, they'll soon hit the real crunch of the roster. Hopefully, the new GM Stan Bowman can navigate the Oilers through this time, and maybe clean up some of the messy contracts Ken Holland left the team.
