Oilers' recently acquired prospect being given highest honour possible
Matt Savoie gets best chance to prove himself in his new farm system with the Oilers.
With the recent acquisition of Matt Savoie for the Oilers, Savoie immediately becomes their best prospect in the system. The Oilers have said that they're willing to give him that opportunity, and he's very happy to have the chance.
With the Condors being very veteran heavy due to a lack of other impactful prospects, it's important to give him a lot of time a game for him to develop as quick as possible. The Condors have changed their entire philosophy away from a veteran heavy, shared workload team to a team that is willing to give this one prospect maximum ice time.
Savoie will fit amazingly into the team, as he becomes the number one forward for the team. Savoie is someone who has already been progressing amazingly, with 71 points in 34 WHL games and 5 points in 6 AHL games.
It'll be great for Savoie to make that jump into the next league, with him going from WHL to AHL competition. He'll be playing against much tougher opponents and much more physical play, making it more of a seem less transition into the NHL.
With Jeff Jackson acquiring
Roby Jarventie from the Senators, Savoie now has another young guy to play and build chemistry with. These two will be excellent together in the AHL and could really help each other out with their point totals and career development.
Savoie looks to be a very improved player and may end up spending time in the NHL sooner rather than later. If he plays well and there are decent injuries on the team, he could get a spot on the Oilers pretty quickly. If you can add Savoie to the list of NHL improvements made this offseason, then it becomes obvious that the Oilers become even more of a threat than they already were.
