Former Gold Medalist and NHL Player Dead at The Age of 55
The negative news seems to have lingered into the year 2023.
We regret to inform you that hockey player Sergei Bautin, also known as "Bam Bam," has passed away. He was selected seventeenth overall in the first round of the 1992 NHL draft and tragically passed suddenly at the early age of 55.
Bautin had stints with the San Jose Sharks, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Winnipeg Jets. In 132 NHL games played, Bautin accumulated 176 penalty minutes while earning 30 points.
He participated in several successful seasons in Russia, Sweden, and Germany after his NHL career. He competed for Team Russia at the 1997 World Championships as well.
We offer our condolences and prayers to the Bautin family, as well as to their friends and loved ones.
