The Philadelphia Flyers' medical staff has been criticized for mishandling injuries over the years, affecting players like Sean Couturier, Ryan Ellis, and Cam Atkinson. John Tortorella, who is aware of the situation, has spoken out about the issue, referring to it as a "huge scab" on the organization. After being hired on June 16th, 2022, Tortorella began working to resolve the medical issues.

He acknowledged that the problem had persisted for years and had eroded players' confidence. Although he did not single out any particular person, he stressed the need to address the issue, which he described as a mess.

Tortorella acknowledged that the medical staff has improved under Tommy and his team, who have done a good job of handling off-ice issues. However, he also acknowledged that the team still has work to do to regain the players' trust. Chuck Fletcher and Barry have also put in a lot of effort to address the issue.

Tortorella hopes that under Danny Briere's leadership, action will be taken to improve the medical staff's performance rather than just making promises. It's sad to hear that players have been mistreated, and rushing operations is not something to be taken lightly. The Philadelphia Flyers' Twitter page has the complete interview which can be seen below:
