Seravalli feels that Debrusk will end up in the Western Conference particularly in the province of Alberta and that the Calgary Flames will be doing their best to outbid Edmonton. The Flames have been going through a turbulent time in their history as a parade of players have chosen to either not sign long term or demand a trade from the organization.
Matthew Tkachuk, Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm and recently Jacob Markstrom have all departed the Flames which has left them devoid of talent and with the stockpile of draft picks and prospects.
With the lack of star power, and quality players it's quite possible that Flames general manager Craig Conroy will attempt to bring the former Boston Bruin as he adds experience to his lineup.
Playing for the Boston Bruins, Debrusk was drafted by the team in 2015, first round, 14th pick overall. Despite having a down season in terms of production, Debrusk's playoff performance was far better has he played thirteen games, scoring five goals with six assists for 11 points.
It's widely expected that many teams will be reaching out to his camp to see what it would take to acquire his services. But it seems another Battle of Alberta may be brewing to bring him into the fold.
