The Edmonton Oilers are evaluating their roster and according to one NHL reporter, Oilers rookie Noah Philp appears to have given Oilers management plenty to think about as the NHL trade deadline approaches.

Allan Mitchell of the Athletic explains that Philp will likely remain with the organization as his current play has helped solidify himself to be part of the Oilers future going into the 2025-2026 season.

Philp was last to leave training camp in October

No matter what happens this spring, the Philp story isn't over. He's earned an audition this fall and could emerge as part of the solution for the 2025-26 Oilers. As for the immediate future, a good guess has him recalled to Edmonton after the 4 Nations break, and then sent to the Condors when Bowman makes a deadline deal. -Allan Mitchell.

Philp had played 12 games for the Oilers this year and has registered two assists and is a plus one with two penalty minutes. These numbers certainly do not blow the doors off of Rogers Place but his play certainly warrants him to remain with the organization as he was returned recently to the Condors.
Philp made a great pressure with the coaching staff during training camp earlier this year as he was the last player to leave the team to head to Bakersfield as many felt that he could be the third- or fourth-line center for the Oilers.

Oilers unlikely to move Philp in a trade

Oilers general manager Stan Bowman and his team are likely preparing their strategy for the March trade deadline as the team is currently in a two week break for the Four Nations Faceoff.
Rumors have been circulating around the team as to what the Oilers are looking for from secondary scoring to goaltending to a top 4 defenseman.
But some prospects could be available for trade, Philp is likely to remain as he will be part of the organization for a long time to come.
